In June 2023, the fourth edition of London Design Biennale opens. With more than 40 pavilions from five continents showcasing some of the world’s most exciting and ambitious innovators, this year’s theme is The Global Game: Remapping Collaborations. NICA and Voice will be there with a powerful interactive installation, ‘Flip the Script’. We can all have a voice to shape how we age in the world we live in and we invite people of all ages from all around the world to come together to be part of changing the story on how we age. To create a new story where we can all live life to our fullest.
The world’s population has hit 8 billion people, with currently a billion people over 60. By 2050, that number will double. And we should all be part of the conversation. After all, this is about our future and the future of those we care about. We need to join the conversation about our future so we can become ‘Longevity Ready’ for the next billion.
By harnessing our collective experience, talent, imagination, knowledge, and ideas, we have the capacity to ignite a transformative shift, empowering us to forge a new path towards a future brimming with possibilities. Together, we can foster groundbreaking innovations that not only provide us with an array of choices but also grant us genuine opportunities to embrace life to its utmost potential.
So how do we start this global conversation? With stories and some plaster casts of course!
Over the last few months, more than 150 people of all ages have come together to help us create an art piece to start this global conversation.
Each participant of the installation was asked to choose one of three hand gestures; to have their hand cast as well as sharing a story around why they chose it. There was a choice of three gesture.
Gesture 1— The past.
What has life taught you so far? Looking back, what has been a standout moment for you and what did you take from it?
Gesture 2 — What needs to change now.
When have you wanted to ‘flip the script’? Tell us about the most frustrating or positive thing you have experienced because of your age and how it made you feel.
Gesture 3 — The future.
Looking ahead to the future, what do you want or what do you think is needed to make sure we can all live longer, healthier and joyful lives?
And you can be part of this conversation.
We have created a way for you to add your voice and your imagination to the conversation.
Together, we can Flip The Script
